Using nets
Three nets of solids - a cuboid, a cube and a triangular prism - are shown and students are asked to identify what 3D shape will be made and to calculate the surface area and volume of each.
As an extension students are asked to sketch each 3D shape and state the number of faces, edges and vertices.
This PowerPoint provides worked solutions. Note that Pythagoras' theorem is required for the triangular prism.
